Dear PhD students, dear early career researchers,
Within our interdisciplinary research project “Ethical and Social Issues of Co-intelligent Monitoring and Assistive Technologies in Dementia Care” (EIDEC) sponsored by the BMBF, we will be hosting an International Symposium: The Future of Assistive Technologies in Dementia Care – An Interdisciplinary Dialogue taking place September 6-8, 2022.
We invite PhD students and early career researchers in the fields of social sciences, medical ethics, medicine, life sciences, health research, digital humanities, engineering, and computer sciences to present their research in the form of posters. Posters should highlight distinguished research results focusing on assistive technologies to support elderly healthcare or to foster living independently in later life including some of the following perspectives:
• Ethical aspects of technology design as well as socio-ethical implications
• Practical-technical solutions for or challenges of technical designs
• Socio-empirical insights from pilot studies in the respective field
• New approaches in participatory design for this particular field
• Economic or policy aspects of assistive technology development and/or implementation
With your posters, you will have the opportunity to share your research findings with international researchers working on ethical, social, and technical aspects of assistive technologies in dementia care.
The symposium will provide an international platform for researchers to exchange and discuss current research projects in an interdisciplinary context and deliberate about how project results can also be transferred to actors outside of academia. Furthermore, the symposium will examine innovative, challenging research questions related to the topic of assistive technologies in dementia care that need to be addressed in the future. We will have presentations by internationally recognized speakers and provide insights into findings of our research project EIDEC. Our confirmed speakers include:

We will have two poster sessions during the symposium: Some posters will be exhibited at the venue in Delmenhorst and others will be presented in a virtual session. A maximum of 8 posters will be selected for presentation during the symposium. In the case of an in-person presentation, selected researchers will have to cover their own travel and accommodation costs. You will be invited to the conference dinner and lunch during the symposium.
Please apply with an abstract outlining your poster proposal (250 words) and a 1-page CV by June 15, 2022 to Julia Perry (Julia.Perry(at)medizin.uni-goettingen.de). Presentations will be selected by criteria of originality, excellence, and advancement of the presented research. We will communicate poster guidelines and further instructions after acceptance.
